Things are looking up! Signs of economic recovery from the COVID crisis are being seen around the UK. Thankfully, latest data shows that the number of weekly job adverts on Adzuna are now 18% higher than pre-pandemic levels.

When the COVID pandemic hit the UK and lockdown was introduced, the number of job adverts being posted plummeted sharply. Businesses across virtually all sectors scaled back recruitment. In the period since the first lockdown, data from Adzuna, the online job advert search engine, shows that there has been a steady recovery in the number of job adverts being posted.

Quite remarkably, since January 2021, the weekly number of job adverts has recovered so strongly that it is now 18% higher than the pre-pandemic level.

These data give sure signs of optimism for the rapid economic recovery following the COVID crisis. Hopefully, the successful rollout of the vaccine programme and the imminent removal of any remaining social distancing restrictions will further strengthen the UK’s economic recovery.
